ASGA Tour Brings USPGL Web Site On Line
Elizabeth City, NC (PRWEB) May 14, 2004 -– The ASGA Tour, Inc. announced today that it has launched the United States Pro Golf League web site (www.uspgl.com). The ASGA Tour partnered with GolfAction.com to build the USPGL’s website, providing significant additional functionality for players, fans, media members and League staff.
The ASGA Tour is the nation’s premier intermediary golf tour in the United States. The USPGL, owned by the ASGA Tour, offers golfers a chance to play in 10 one-day local events in Chapters throughout the country leading up to the Section Championship, which is a 54-hole competition televised nationally on Fox Sports Net. USPGL golfers will compete using their handicaps under the ASGA @ Par Handicap System for substantial prize money. Top finishers at each Section Championship qualify for the National Championship, also televised with a top purse of up to $750,000. League members also compete for substantial bonus pools for low net scoring average and low gross scoring average with payouts to the top 15 players in each pool.
The new website will provide all visitors a unique viewing experience. The site is set up to provide golfers, Chapter Directors, and media with access to important information about upcoming tournaments as well as general ASGA Tour and USPGL news. All tournament articles will be added to the GolfAction.com website and can be found in the general news section.
Another exciting feature of the new web site is the easy-to-use tournament registration system, allowing USPGL golfers the opportunity to sign-up online for local tournaments and then subsequently receive an e-mail confirming their enrollment. Additionally, the website provides information on the unique ASGA @ Par Handicap System, which is used for all ASGA Tour and USPGL events; Section Championships; National Championship; tournament purses; national television package; information for potential sponsors; and information on how to join the USPGL as either a golfer or as a Section/Chapter Director.
Local Chapter Directors have special access to the site, which allows them to enter information about each tournament, such as results and photos. They will also use the administration tools to manage a roster for each USPGL event, assign tee times and publish event results. Players will automatically receive emails every time they register for a tournament, confirm their registration and are assigned tee times.
The new site will also track statistics such as Scoring Average, Greens, Driving Distance, Putting, Fairways, Points Leaders and Money Leaders for all players competing in USPGL events. The League has also launched its 2004 membership drive, which offers golfers of all skill levels the opportunity to join their local chapter for 50% off of the normal membership dues. Members also receive a benefits program which contains 85,000 different discounts on golf, travel, dining, hotels and many more.
About the ASGA Tour
The ASGA Tour is the country's premier intermediary professional golf tour conducting tour caliber events for former PGA Tour professionals 48 years of age and older, who are preparing for the Champions Tour, non-exempt professionals on the Champions Tour celebrity challengers and professionals 18 years old and up preparing for the big tour. Beginning in 2004, the ASGA Tour will also conduct a Pro-Net competition for players of all skill levels 18 years of age and older who will compete for substantial prize money with their handicaps in the Tour event atmosphere of ASGA events. ASGA tournaments are week-long events with Junior Clinics, pro-ams, entertainment, leader boards and hospitality, with local market charities benefiting from the event.
