Good Samaritan Hospital Foundation's 15th annual Fall Golf and Tennis Classic
(PRWEB) October 2, 2004 -- Over $200,000 was raised at the Good Samaritan Hospital Foundation's 15th annual Fall Golf and Tennis Classic on Monday, September 27th, at the Edgewood Country Club in River Vale, NJ. The proceeds from the event will be used to open a new, state-of-the-art Epilepsy Monitoring Unit at the Suffern, NY Hospital. Presenting sponsor of the event was once again Union State Bank, who continues to demonstrate its commitment to the community through efforts such as this.
The golf classic featured a fun-filled day beginning with a breakfast buffet at 9:30 a.m. Attendees participated in an elite 18-hole "shamble," which was preceded by a putting contest. For those who preferred a hard court to the links, a tennis tournament was also offered. Lunch at the Midway for golfers was sponsored by Hilton Woodcliff Lake.
The day concluded with an upscale cocktail reception, silent and live auction, and dinner. In addition, a raffle, which included a grand prize of a 5-7 day cruise for two to either Bermuda or the Caribbean was also offered. Winner of the grand prize was Frank Gallagher of HoHoKus, NJ.
"Our goal was to exceed the $200,000 mark for the first time in our fifteen year history so that we could add needed equipment and programs at Good Samaritan Hospital," said Christine Maraia, Executive Vice President of the Good Samaritan Hospital Foundation. "Thanks in large measure to the many local corporations and organizations that showed their support of Good Samaritan Hospital and the Foundation by sponsoring this outing, we were able to exceed that goal."
Funds raised through the Fall Classic will support the opening of an Epilepsy Monitoring Unit at Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern, NY. This two-bed unit will provide state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment, including video EEG monitoring, to evaluate patients with known or suspected seizure disorders. As a result of funds raised through this outing, this potentially life-saving technology will be available to the people of the Greater Rockland County area at Good Samaritan Hospital.
Good Samaritan Hospital is part of the Bon Secours Charity Health System, which also includes St. Anthony Community Hospital in Warwick, NY and Bon Secours Community Hospital in Port Jervis, NY. Additionally, Bon Secours Charity Health System provides the services of a Certified Home Health Agency, two long-term care facilities, an assisted living and adult home facility and several other medical programs. For more information on this, or any of the hospital's programs or services, contact Good Samaritan Hospital at 845-368-5000 or www.goodsamhosp.org.
