Golf for Glory




(PRWEB) May 28 2004--When you golf this Memorial Day weekend at participating courses in Southeastern Pennsylvania, Southern New Jersey and Northern Delaware, help support our troops by participating in "USA Troop Support/Golf for Glory". The event will help raise vitally needed funds to support local Liberty USO programs for our armed forces and their families.

The fundraiser is the first of its kind in this area. Every golfer who plays on Memorial Day weekend will be asked for a minimum pledge of $10.00 (ten dollars). A small donation from each golfer, when combined, can make a major impact on the lives of those brave Americans who serve whenever and wherever duty calls.

"The Liberty USO is privileged to team with golfing professionals and recreational golfers in this area to combine a round of golf over Memorial Day weekend with an opportunity to support programs for our men and women in uniform," said Denny Shupe, volunteer President of the USO of Pennsylvania and Southern New Jersey. "The idea for this innovative event came from one of our newest board members, Ira Smith, the President of ActionPak, Inc. What better time than Memorial Day weekend to remember and honor the daily sacrifices made by the members of our armed forces, often at great personal peril, so that all of us at home can enjoy the benefits of freedom and the societal ideals that we so cherish. Our armed forces need to know that we support and remember them 365 days a year."

The money raised will be used for a variety of family and troop support activities in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware, care packages for troops deploying overseas and calling cards for the troops so they can stay in contact with their families.
